Gifted Education Specialist
The Role:
* Design and implement an advanced curriculum to challenge highly able students, overseeing the development of a program that identifies, assesses, and monitors student progress.
* Collaborate with classroom teachers, teaching leaders, and families to support individual learning needs of these students.
Key Responsibilities:
* Advocate for differentiation within the mainstream curriculum, working closely with all staff members.
* Support teachers in differentiating the curriculum and making adjustments for full engagement.
* Plan and deliver targeted programs for identified and high potential learners.
* Implement responsive and data-informed programs and interventions.
* Conduct assessments and analyze available data to identify students with exceptional abilities and monitor their progress over time.
* Collaborate with classroom and specialist teachers to plan and implement meaningful enrichment experiences for highly able students.
* Model and live the school's values and behaviors.
Essential Skills And Qualifications:
* Demonstrated knowledge and experience of gifted education.
* Exemplary teaching practices, with proven classroom management skills.
* Comprehensive knowledge of current educational issues, curriculum frameworks, and national standards as they apply in an ELC-12 context.
* Demonstrated ability to design and implement quality differentiated teaching and learning programs.
* Masters of Gifted Education or equivalent qualification in supporting highly able students.
* Relevant tertiary qualifications and/or experience related to the teaching responsibility required by the position.
* Current VIT Registration.
