Aboriginal Mental Health Clinician Role Overview
The Aboriginal Mental Health Clinician is a crucial position within our multidisciplinary team, providing recovery-focused and culturally competent services to individuals with mental illness, distress, and/or risk issues.
This role involves assessment, care coordination, intervention, liaison, advocacy, and review. The successful candidate will be part of a dynamic team that delivers high-quality, safe, and connected care to consumers and their families and carers.
Key Responsibilities:
* Provide person-centred and holistic care that promotes self-determination and aligns with the principles of mental health rehabilitation, recovery framework, and strengths-based approach.
* Engage and collaborate with consumers, their families, and carers, as well as other stakeholders.
* Utilize Electronic Medical Record Programs and Microsoft Office software, including Skype for business.
* Demonstrate knowledge and understanding of the Mental Health & Alcohol and Other Drugs strategic directions in service provision, including those related to Aboriginal People and their communities.
* Stay updated on legislation and policies related to mental health care provision, including the Mental Health Act 2007.
This role requires an Aboriginal person who is passionate about delivering exceptional care and making a positive impact in the community.
Requirements and Qualifications:
To be successful in this role, you will need:
* Be of Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander descent.
* Hold a tertiary qualification in Health Science (Mental Health) or equivalent registration with AHPRA for Registered Nurses, Occupational Therapists, Psychologists, or eligibility for membership of the Australian Association of Social Workers for Social Workers.
* Demonstrated ability to provide high-quality care and engage with consumers and their families.
* Strong communication and computer skills, including accuracy and knowledge of Electronic Medical Record Programs.
