As a Public Affairs Officer, you'll work closely with policy and program areas to shape clear, engaging, and effective communication strategies that support the department's priorities. Key Responsibilities
* Support communication planning: Develop and implement communication strategies and plans to promote departmental programs and initiatives.
* Build stakeholder relationships: Work collaboratively with policy, program and ministerial areas to anticipate communication needs.
* Create compelling content: Produce accessible, audience-focused materials including media and web content, videos, and stakeholder communication products.
* Coordinate suppliers and budgets: Manage communication contracts and liaise with external providers to ensure high-quality outcomes.
* Monitor performance: Track and report on the effectiveness of communication activities.
* Contribute to ministerial work: Draft briefings, speeches, event briefs, and Question Time briefs for senior executives and the Minister.
* Support research and creative development: Assist in developing communication concepts and conducting research to inform strategies.
* Deliver administrative support: Manage records, prepare meeting papers, and summarise briefs and media coverage.
About You
You're an organised and proactive communicator with a knack for turning complex ideas into clear, engaging messages. You work well under pressure, handle competing priorities with ease, and are confident liaising across multiple stakeholders.
Contract Details
* APS6 equivalent labour hire contract
* Full-time, standard hours (8:30am – 5:00pm, Monday to Friday)
* Canberra-based Federal Government department
* 7-month duration, with possible extension
