About the Team
The Engagement, Education and Communication Branch is responsible for the delivery of a range of functions across the Commission, including:
* Communications (internal and external)
* Stakeholder Engagement
* Sector Education
* Parliamentary Services and Media
The Brand, Internal Communications and Intranet team is part of the wider Communications section.
The team is responsible for providing:
* Strategic and BaU internal communications support across the Commission
* The continuing development and ongoing governance of the Commission's intranet and
* A suite of design and production services to support key publications and resources produced by the Commission for a range of audiences (internal and external).
About the Role
The Brand, Internal Communications and Intranet team is seeking a skilled and proactive Senior Communications Officer – Intranet, to support the governance, content development and continuous improvement of the Commission's Microsoft SharePoint-based intranet. This role is pivotal in ensuring the intranet remains a reliable, user‐friendly, and strategically aligned communication and knowledge‐sharing tool for the Commission and will require excellent stakeholder skills to support the ongoing engagement, training and knowledge building for the community of intranet publishers.
Position Duties
* Governance management: Implement processes aligned to key business priorities to support user adoption and effective adherence of the Intranet Content Governance Strategy. This includes regular review and revision of the framework to identify conflicts with broader organisational policies. Clearly define user expectations, roles and responsibilities. Embed best practice design through page template usage and key content management concepts
* Intranet publishing and content development: Produce quality content for internal communications and intranet products with a focus on clear, simple messaging across a range of channels and formats that meets Commission standards, This includes translating complex, technical information into plain language and adopting a user‐centred approach for intranet pages (general content owned by Internal Communications), intranet guidance (reference documentation, training for intranet publishers) and intranet presentations (engaging content about intranet best practice for a range of audiences).
* Stakeholder engagement and community of practice: Assist stakeholders in intranet content development to ensure structure, tone, accessibility and relevance of content meets standards, staff needs and organisational objectives. Maintain relationships and forums with intranet stakeholders, including mechanisms for onboarding, collaboration and timely knowledge sharing updates.
* Channel development and continuous improvement: Contribute to the continuous improvement of the Commission intranet, identifying opportunities for enhancement based on user feedback, analytics and emerging best practices. Collate, record and report on intranet and related activities, providing both qualitative and quantitative information to contribute to continuous improvement.
* Positive working relationships: Develop strong relationships with internal stakeholders, including content owners, authors, Knowledge Management, Digital and Internal Communications colleagues to ensure alignment and strategic development of key initiatives.
* General and ad hoc communications support: Engage with the wider section and branch to support communications strategy and design. This may include managing a range of communications activities across the Commission, designing and implementing internal communications plans and supporting other activities of the wider Communications area.
Position Eligibility Requirements (Selection Criteria)
To be successful in this role you will need to demonstrate the following:
* Demonstrated experience in the development and delivery of communications products and activities, including application of brand and style guides, plain language and writing for the web principles.
* Demonstrated experience in intranet content management, digital communications, or knowledge management within a government or corporate environment.
* Strong understanding of intranet governance, user experience principles and content lifecycle management.
* Excellent stakeholder engagement and communication skills, with the ability to influence and collaborate across diverse teams.
* Familiarity with Microsoft SharePoint and its use as an intranet platform, digital accessibility standards and analytics tools.
* Excellent attention to detail, proof‐reading and editing skills (strong grammar and spelling) including experience in translating complex information into plain language.
* Demonstrated initiative in identifying and resolving problems or complex issues and working collaboratively to develop solutions.
* Demonstrated ability to meet deadlines and deliver quality communication products and services while balancing competing tasks and priorities.
* Experience in managing relationships with external suppliers.
* Ability to work proactively and contribute to strategic planning and continuous improvement initiatives.
* Bachelor's degree in Communications or similar field and/or minimum 5 years' experience in relevant communication roles.
Position Notes
* Salary offered will be between $99,784 - $112,571 per annum depending on skills and experience. In addition, 15.4% superannuation will be paid.

* Non‐ongoing opportunity will be offered for an irregular/intermittent term. Opportunities will be offered for varying periods up to 12 months with the option to extend to a total of 24 months.
