Overview

Job Type: Permanent position | Full time position

Responsibilities

* To provide practical and emotional support to clients.
* Supervise the activities of clients including children, ensuring that all clients adhere to the House Rules and Policies and Procedures.
* Maintain daily case management/support plans for women and children.
* Update all necessary records as per the Policies and Procedures Manual.
* Ensure that information on relevant community resources is available to clients and their children.
* Assist clients to identify and access other services that may be relevant to their case management support plan.
* Adhere to the Policies and Procedures Manual relating to clients, data collection and financial management and within the parameters of the Department of Communities\' protocols.
* Complete house duties as necessary and assist clients throughout the day, including supporting clients in initiating and maintaining in-house routines and general tasks (e.g., cleaning, laundry, room preparation for incoming clients).
* Ensure the safe operation of the household and support services in a residential setting.

Qualifications

* Formal qualifications in social work, counselling or community services preferred.
* Residential based role; willingness to work in a non-fly-in/fly-out arrangement.
* Work rights in Australia or ability to obtain.
* A demonstrated understanding of the issues surrounding family and domestic violence and homelessness.
* Capacity to crisis manage, assess and make appropriate decisions and provide timely responses when case managing clients.
* Ability to effectively engage with clients from culturally diverse backgrounds.
* Knowledge of government and non-government community services.
* Ability to advocate for clients on a professional level and to work collaboratively with other support services and agencies.
* Ability to encourage and support clients to feel safe.
* Ability to provide clients with a sense of wellbeing where clients\' health is promoted and nurtured.
* Proficiency in Microsoft Office and data entry.
* A current National Police Clearance (less than 3 months old).
* A current Working with Children Check.
* A current First Aid Certificate or willingness to obtain.
* A current WA Driver\'s Licence (Class C) or ability to obtain prior to employment.

About the Company

The Goldfields Women\'s Refuge provides safe and supported accommodation for women, with or without children, who are experiencing domestic or family violence or other crises, including homelessness or at risk of homelessness. Successful applicants will receive remuneration under the Social, Community, Home Care and Disability Services Industry Award 2010, including penalty rates for shift and weekend hours, and may be eligible for salary sacrifice after a qualifying period.

Applicants may also qualify for a retention bonus for continuous service. The Refuge operates 24/7, so only applicants willing to cover the full scope of shift work, including night shift, should apply.
