About the team
Do you want to help deliver AGL's renewable pipeline of major projects? We are looking for a dynamic individual to join the team as Category Manager - Energy Infrastructure. As a project procurement professional, you will have responsibility for developing and leading procurement activities relating to major infrastructure projects. To align with AGL's strategic objectives, this portfolio includes supporting the renewables pipeline within AGL and across joint ventures and consortiums (as required).
This role will achieve success through effective influencing and collaboration with key internal project stakeholders, external suppliers and procurement representatives when developing and executing category plans for complex and major addressable spend initiatives. This role will deliver commercial outcomes across AGL, including taking the lead in renewable energy procurement activities, whilst ensuring governance across supplier activities.
Reporting to the Procurement Manager Energy Infrastructure:
- Partner with business stakeholders to develop and deliver best value sourcing strategies in line with AGL policies.- Develop and run (using procurement templates and tools) tenders for effective sourcing implementation in line with the relevant policies and processes (using systems such as ARIBA).- Work with business partners in the evaluation and negotiation process, incorporating technical, commercial, and operating model outcomes.- Navigate through competing priorities and drive collaboration among stakeholders to maximize business benefits.- Provide commercial support as necessary, utilising your detailed understanding of contracts.- Knowledge of the business drivers and issues facing a large-scale energy company, and the ability to assist the business in translating these into requirements for tendering.- Ability to work independently and effectively in a team to complete tasks and achieve team KPI's and timelines in accordance with AGL policies and procedures.
What you'll bring to the table- Tertiary qualification in Engineering, Business or related field coupled with energy sector and/ knowledge.- 10+ years solid project procurement experience in the utilities, construction, engineering or oil and gas industries.- Extensive experience post qualification in procurement or equivalent commercial roles, including renewables project procurement.- Experience in using systems such as ARIBA to run large complex tenders.- Demonstrated understanding of best practice procurement processes.- Demonstrated experience in managing highly complex issues through to resolution.-
- A high level of understanding of a mature procurement environment, including governance requirements, purchasing policies and processes.- Experience in managing services contracts and delivering significant savings within these contracts.
