Leading with expertise and compassion, the Clinical Midwife Consultant champions evidence‑based practice, fosters excellence in care, and drives healthier communities through collaboration, innovation, and professional leadership.

* Make a life‑changing impact by supporting pregnant women and new mothers experiencing substance use challenges through compassionate, trauma‑informed care.
* Lead clinical excellence as a CNC/CMC, guiding evidence‑based practice and shaping high‑quality, culturally safe services within the SUPPS program.
* Strengthen continuity of care by contributing to intake, assessment, treatment planning and postnatal case management, with an expanding service reaching up to two years postpartum.
* Drive innovation and service improvement, helping to refine clinical standards, evaluate outcomes, and enhance pathways for families across South Western Sydney.
* Collaborate closely across multidisciplinary teams, working alongside medical, nursing, midwifery, allied health and community services to deliver holistic care.
* Provide leadership and mentorship, supporting staff and contributing to the growth of a developing service with a strong learning and supportive culture.

* Strong critical-thinking skills, allowing you to assess complex situations and apply advanced evidence-based midwifery or nursing judgment in practice.
* A solid understanding of safety, risk and quality, and an active commitment to contributing to a safe, high‑performing and continuously improving workplace.

Selection Criteria
To help us assess your suitability for the role, please tell us as much as you can about yourself in response to the questions below.

* Current Authority to Practice as a Midwife/Nurse with the Australian Health Practitioners Regulation Agency (AHPRA). At least 5 years full time equivalent post registration experience, with at least 3 years full time equivalent experience in the specialty field. In addition, the employee must have approved postgraduate nursing/midwifery qualifications relevant to the field in which the employee is appointed, or such other qualifications or experience deemed appropriate by the public hospital or public health organisation. Drug and Alcohol experience is essential.
* Demonstrated ability to implement effective strategies for maintaining current knowledge of clinical practice advances and research within the relevant specialty, ensuring expertise remains at the forefront of evidence-based care. Additionally, proven capacity to apply this expert knowledge to deliver safe, compassionate, high quality care that is culturally responsive and tailored to the diverse needs of patients.
* Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively and engage with patients/consumers, carers, and the multidisciplinary health care team to identify and respond to care needs. Additionally, proven capacity to interact in a personable and professional manner while proactively managing and resolving conflicts to foster a collaborative and supportive healthcare environment.
* Demonstrated ability to apply critical thinking in the delivery of advanced, evidence-based midwifery/nursing care, ensuring high-quality clinical outcomes. Additionally, proven understanding and active participation in risk management, workplace health and safety, and continuous quality improvement initiatives to maintain and enhance standards of care.
