THE OPPORTUNITY

Tutamoe Station presents a unique opportunity to manage extensive hill country sheep and beef breeding operations, complemented by a semi-intensive cattle finishing system. This role is ideal for an ambitious individual seeking to expand their expertise in integrated farm systems while showcasing excellence in grazing management.

The position offers hands-on experience across diverse livestock enterprises and supports the development of advanced skills in both breeding and finishing operations.

You'll guide a team of up to three people, helping them succeed through coaching, clear communication, and a collaborative approach.

You'll be central to planning and executing core farming principles: growing high-quality dry matter, making sound feed budgeting decisions, and helping lift performance across the operation.

Key responsibilities include:

• Planning and coordinating stock rotations, and supporting physical and financial farm performance

• Leading a strong health, safety, and wellbeing culture

• Working closely with the Business Manager on planning, budgets, and continuous improvement

• Building rural networks and contributing positively to the local community

• Representing Pāmu with pride and professionalism

You'll also deepen your capability with Pāmu's systems, building confidence in Farmax and FarmIQ and strengthening your financial and operational decision-making.

THE FARM

Tutāmoe Station is a 1,850 effective ha sheep and beef property located around 40 minutes from Tolaga Bay. The farm runs 20,000 su, including 8500 ewes, and 550 mixed-age cows,450 R2 steers.

This is classic East Coast hill country - medium to steep, varied, and rewarding- where thoughtful planning, excellent animal handling skills, and strong teamwork make a real difference. Horses are regularly used for stock work.

ABOUT YOU

You're passionate about agriculture and genuinely motivated to keep learning, growing, and leading. You enjoy supporting others to do their best work and creating an environment where people feel valued, safe, and encouraged.

You may already be managing a sheep and beef farm, or you may be stepping up from a senior role where you've been leading people and taking ownership of key decisions. What matters most is your mindset - your drive to develop your team, contribute to a positive culture, and look for opportunities to continually improve.

You will have:

· A strong commitment to Health & Safety, Animal Welfare and Environmental Management

· Confidence managing multiple stock units and understanding what drives performance

· An eye for detail - particularly with stock performance, feed planning, and seasonal priorities

· Comfort with farm systems and a willingness to develop your technical and digital capability

· Natural strengths in communication, teamwork, and building trusted relationships

BENEFITS

We offer a competitive salary package, including health and life insurance, enhanced parental leave benefits, and up to 4% KiwiSaver matching. You'll also receive an extra day of leave over Christmas, plus ongoing training and development.
