Do you perform at your best when conditions are demanding and outcomes matter?
We're seeking experienced Safety Divers who bring calm judgement, strong situational awareness, and real-world diving experience to a professional training environment supporting the Australian Defence Force (ADF).
This role suits divers who value operational realism, teamwork, and safety leadership, and who want to apply their experience in a way that directly impacts others when it matters most.
Employment Type & Availability
This is a casual position. During onboarding and initial training, candidates can expect a higher volume of shifts while becoming familiar with ERGT systems, facilities, and course delivery.
Once fully onboarded, shift availability will vary based on course schedules and operational demand. At times, this may be as little as 1–2 shifts per month.
This role is well suited to experienced divers seeking flexible, intermittent work, or those looking to remain engaged with the industry alongside other commitments.
The Role
Based in Nowra, NSW, you'll support the delivery of Helicopter Underwater Escape Training (HUET), Sea Survival, and water winching activities under realistic, controlled conditions.
Training is deliberately immersive and mirrors the environments trainees may face in real incidents. The objective is not just skill acquisition, but confidence, competence, and survivability.
As a Safety Diver, you will:
* Act as a critical safety presence during underwater escape scenarios
* Support trainers and trainees during practical exercises
* Operate as an intermediary for underwater signals and communications
* Maintain oversight of trainee, trainer, and team safety in the water at all times
* Apply sound judgement and situational awareness in dynamic training conditions
This is a role where your experience, professionalism, and ability to stay composed under pressure are essential.
Essential Requirements
* Current Rescue Dive qualification
* Current First Aid and Advanced Resuscitation certificates
Highly Desirable
* Dive Master or Instructor qualification
* Previous HUET experience
* Certificate IV in Training and Assessment (TAE40122)
