We are seeking a person with comprehensive bookkeeping skills and a proven track record in bookkeeping practice ensuring we comply with relevant legislation. We welcome expressions of interest both from bookkeepers and from suitably qualified and experienced accountants.
The role is part time and may be undertaken mostly off-site in a location of your choice or accommodated within the Societys premises.
The vacancy has arisen due to resignation of our Treasurer who was also a member of the Committee.
We are open to expressions of interest from individuals interested in both the committee role and the bookkeeping work. Our current view is that the bookkeeping efforts of our former Treasurer must be the initial focus. The potential to expand the successful candidates work from bookkeeper only to also taking up the role of Treasurer can be explored later.
The key responsibilities of the bookkeeper will be:]
Entering data into our accounting system which uses Xero
Managing the interface between Xero and our bank accounts
Reconciliations such as reconciling bank statements with receipt books
Running monthly and other reports for tabling at Committee meetings
Paying approved bills
Recording and managing receipts
Ensuring our financial records are accurate and up to date
Responding to ad-hoc reporting needs. E.g. producing a P&L statement for an individual event such as an exhibition
Liaison with our auditors.
The role of Treasurer is broader and includes being a member of the Committee. The additional responsibilities would be discussed with the successful candidate for the bookkeeper role, if they are interested in additional responsibilities.
