CCVThe County Court of Victoria (CCV) within Court Services Victoria is established pursuant to the County Court Act 1958. It has original and appellate jurisdiction and is the principal trial court in the State of Victoria.Cases are heard across three divisions: Criminal, Common Law and Commercial. The County Court regularly sits across 12 circuit locations. Circuits are generally 4 to 5 weeks in length and most Judges in the Criminal and Common Law Divisions undertake two circuits annually. About the Role As Senior Associate to the Chief Judge, you will play a pivotal role in supporting judicial leadership and contributing to the effective operation of the Chief Judge's Chambers. You will provide high level legal research, analysis and authoritative advice, including in court support during proceedings presided over by the Chief Judge. Working closely with the Principal Adviser to the Chief Judge and the Manager of Law Reform and Policy, you will also assist in preparing responses to legislative reform proposals, drafting submissions and briefing materials, and monitoring developments in relevant areas of law and policy. A key part of the role includes contributing to judicial professional development programs, particularly those delivered by the Chief Judge, including the preparation of case summaries and research to support learning sessions for the judiciary. These responsibilities are performed in addition to the tasks required of an Associate and require close collaboration with other staff within the Chambers of the Chief Judge. About you You will be a motivated and capable legal professional with: A law degree and strong academic achievement (admission preferred but not essential) Highly developed legal research, analytical and statutory interpretation skills Excellent written and verbal communication skills and the ability to produce clear, accurate and persuasive work Strong relationship building skills and the ability to engage confidently with internal and external stakeholders Sound judgement, professionalism, and an ability to manage sensitive and confidential information High attention to detail, strong organisational capability and the ability to work independently and as part of a collaborative team A commitment to public service, integrity and delivering high quality support within a judicial environment How to Apply To apply, click 'Apply Now' and submit: * your resume * a short cover letter outlining your interest in the role and your relevant experience, and * a copy of your academic transcript.
