About the role
This part-time Medical Receptionist role is an excellent opportunity to join the team at Countryside Medical Centre in Bairnsdale, VIC.
In a rural clinic, the receptionist role is central to the patient experience. You will often be the first and most familiar face our patients see, helping to create a welcoming, calm, and respectful environment for people of all ages and backgrounds.
You will be joining a new clinic from the beginning, where relationships, continuity of care, and teamwork truly matter. You will play a vital role in providing high-quality customer service and supporting the smooth day-to-day operation of the medical practice.
What you'll be doing
1. Greeting and welcoming patients with a friendly and professional manner
2. Scheduling appointments and managing the practice appointment system
3. Answering phone enquiries professionally and compassionately
4. Assisting with patient registration and check-in
5. Processing billing, Medicare claims, and payments
6. Performing administrative tasks including filing, data entry, and accurate management of patient records
7. Coordinating with the clinical team to ensure efficient patient flow
8. Maintaining a clean and organised reception area
What we're looking for
1. Previous experience in a medical reception or customer service role (General practice or other healthcare experience preferred)
2. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with a warm, compassionate and professional approach
3. Someone who enjoys working in a small, collaborative team and being part of the local community
4. Strong organisational and time management skills, with the ability to handle multiple tasks calmly and reliably
5. Confidence using medical practice software (Best Practice experience preferred) and other office technology
6. A genuine interest in healthcare and a commitment to providing respectful, patient-centred care
7. Certificate III in Medical Administration or equivalent qualifications preferred
