Job Description

The Emergency Physician plays a critical role in ensuring the smooth operation of the emergency department, providing specialist medical care to patients with acute conditions. This position requires strong clinical leadership and communication skills, as well as the ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment.

Duties and Responsibilities

* Provide specialist emergency medical care to patients with acute conditions
* Clinical leadership and supervision of Registrars and Junior Medical Officers
* Teaching and education of junior doctors and medical students
* Collaboration with other specialists to ensure comprehensive patient care

Requirements

* Qualifications as an Emergency FACEM
* Strong clinical leadership and communication skills
* Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment

About the Role

This position is not suitable for applicants on a specialist pathway with limited registration. The successful candidate will be required to contribute to strategic planning, quality improvement, and promoting the organization as a regional health service. They will also support the organization's values and strategic priorities, delivering clinical excellence and supporting teaching, research, and governance programs.

Work Environment

The emergency department operates 24/7, with a high acuity and diverse case mix. The department has 36 beds, including 3 state-of-the-art resuscitation bays, 2 negative pressure isolation cubicles, and 13 additional acute care cubicles. There is also a dedicated Fast Track area with 7 cubicles and a consultation room, as well as a 9-bed Short Stay Unit.
