* $89,841 - $96,829 + up to 15.4% Superannuation (Includes scheduled March 2026 pay increase in accordance with the Defence Enterprise Collective Agreement 2024. Applicants commencing prior to the pay increase will be appointed within the pay range of $86,887 - $93,066)

The Role
The Co-Design Officer plays a key role in supporting the planning and delivery of codesign workshops within Defence’s CoDesign Centre (CDC). Working under general direction, you will assist in preparing session materials, coordinating logistics and facilitate smoothly run co-design workshops.

You will help create the conditions for collaboration by carrying out practical, hands on tasks that contribute to high quality co-design workshops. You will be part of a dynamic team working to enable creativity, connection, and effective problem?solving across Defence.

Key duties include:

* Supporting the design and preparation of codesign workshops, including materials, room setup and assisting key design activities.
* Coordinating logistics for engagements including scheduling of co-design activities, communication with participants, session setup, and post session pack down.
* Assisting with content capture, including note taking, drafting instructional materials, photographing the event and supporting live scribing where appropriate.
* Helping maintain session documentation, ensuring outputs are organised, clear and aligned to agreed requirements.
* Collaborating with internal stakeholders to gather information, confirm requirements and provide timely updates.
* Contributing to team processes, continuous improvement activities and general team support.

This role requires strong organisation, attention to detail, and the ability to work cooperatively within a small team.

About our Team
The CoDesign Centre (CDC) is part of Defence’s ERP Transformation Program and is responsible for supporting Defence to design and deliver integrated, user centred outcomes. As an APS 5 Co-Design Officer, you will contribute to the delivery of collaborative sessions that help shape organisational change, working closely with facilitators, sponsors and the broader Defence workforce.

* Willingness to learn new tools and methods, including design thinking or codesign approaches.
* Professionalism, integrity, respect for diverse perspectives and a commitment to APS and Defence values.
* A background in service design or user experience design is desirable, but not essential.
