The Opportunity
Our client is looking for an experienced Payroll Consultant to join the People Operations team on an immediate‐start contract basis. This is a hands‐on, project‐critical role supporting the transition of our client's Australian payroll function to ADP, while maintaining accurate and compliant payroll delivery throughout.
Reporting to the People Operations Manager, you'll act as a key liaison between the internal team and the outsourced payroll provider — guiding the transition from current state through to go‐live, while keeping day‐to‐day payroll running without disruption.
What You'll Be Doing
* Processing end‐to‐end payroll across the business, ensuring accuracy and timeliness throughout the transition period
* Supporting the ADP implementation — managing the vendor relationship and working through data migration, configuration, and go‐live activities
* Applying Modern Awards knowledge (Rapid Food Industry Award, General Retail Industry Award, Hospitality Industry Award) to ensure correct pay rates, penalties, loadings, and entitlements across a complex workforce
* Cleansing, validating, and reconciling payroll data ahead of migration
* Partnering with HR, Finance, and operations to resolve queries and communicate changes
* Developing process documentation, runbooks, and SOPs to support the team post go‐live
What We're Looking For
* Proven experience processing payroll in an outsourced model — ideally with direct involvement in an outsourcing or system transition project
* Strong working knowledge of Modern Awards, particularly in F&B; and/or retail environments with multi‐award, multi‐shift complexity
* Confidence managing payroll across varying employment types — full time, part‐time, casual, and peak‐period arrangements
* High attention to detail with the ability to balance operational delivery alongside a transformational project
* Available to work in office 5 days per week from our client's Melbourne office for the duration of the contract
