This is a position identified for Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander people on the basis of a genuine occupational qualification under section 14(d) of the Anti-Discrimination Act 1977. Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander applicants must demonstrate Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander status in addition to addressing the selection criteria.
Where You'll Be Working You will be part of the Aboriginal Health Care Coordination Team based at Inverell Health Service, working on Country and alongside Community. This role sits within a strong Aboriginal health network across the Northern Hunter New England region, with weekly team huddles and monthly unit gatherings that create space for connection, reflection and shared learning. You'll also be connected with Aboriginal Health Workers and Aboriginal Health Practitioners across the region, ensuring ongoing peer support and cultural guidance in your practice. About the Role As a key member of the multidisciplinary team, you will provide culturally safe, holistic and community-focused care to Aboriginal individuals and families. Your work will include:
* Building respectful relationships with Aboriginal Community members, families and Elders
* Providing care coordination and individual client support
* Delivering health promotion and prevention activities shaped by community need
* Conducting outreach to surrounding communities within the Inverell LGA, including Tingha and Ashford
* Advocating for improved access to services and stronger health outcomes
This role recognises that culture, connection to Country, family and community are central to health and wellbeing. About You We are seeking a proud Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander person (as per Section 14(d) of the Anti-Discrimination Act 197 who has strong connection to community and an understanding of the local Aboriginal Community in and around Inverell. You will bring:
* Experience working with Aboriginal individuals, families and services
* A genuine commitment to improving Aboriginal health outcomes
* Strong communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively
* A current NSW Driver's Licence and willingness to travel locally
Education and Support You will be supported to complete a Certificate IV in Aboriginal Primary Health Care (Practice) through TAFE NSW and work toward registration as an Aboriginal Health Practitioner with AHPRA. Support includes:
* Structured face-to-face and online orientation
* Guidance from the Northern Cultural Team Leader (Aboriginal Health), Northern Clinical Nurse Consultant and Operations Manager
* Ongoing peer support from Aboriginal Health Workers and Aboriginal Health Practitioners across the Northern region
* Access to supported study leave and professional development

Requirements
* Be willing to work towards obtaining a Certificate IV Aboriginal Primary Health Care (Practice) within 2 years of enrolment in course and commencement of employment and work towards AHPRA standards to meet Registration as an Aboriginal Health Practitioner. following appointment to the position through supported education, training and study leave.
* Current NSW Drivers Licence and the ability to travel within the local area and throughout Hunter New England NSW LHD (as necessary).
