Job Opportunity – Assistant Director of Nursing

- Contract Dates: 4 August 2025 – 9 November 2025
- Hours: 64 hours per fortnight (approx. 32 hours/week)
- Roster: Includes shift work, night shifts, weekdays, and weekends
About the Role:
Portland District Health (PDH) is currently seeking a Senior Registered Nurse to fill a temporary Assistant Director of Nursing (ADON) role through agency placement. This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced nursing leader to step into a pivotal role in a supportive and community-focused regional health service.
As ADON, you will provide operational leadership and management across the health service in alignment with PDH's strategic plan. You'll serve as a key resource and support for clinical teams, particularly outside regular business hours.
Key Responsibilities:
Provide senior nursing leadership and operational oversight
Support clinical divisions and act as a resource for staff
Promote excellence in patient care aligned with PDH's values: wisdom, courage, and compassion
Ensure compliance with clinical governance and safety standards
Essential Criteria:
Current registration as a Registered Nurse in Australia (AHPRA)
Proven leadership and management experience in a clinical setting
Advanced understanding of clinical nursing and clinical risk management
Strong knowledge of the NSQHS Standards
Excellent communication skills—written, verbal, and interpersonal
Strong ICT proficiency
Availability for a flexible roster including nights and weekends
