Overview

Job Title: Senior Manager, Group Audit

Responsibilities
* Lead the Group Audit assurance program across key Qantas portfolios, giving senior leaders and the Board clear visibility of risks and control effectiveness.
* Deliver high-quality audits and advisory work, driving governance improvements, coordinating combined assurance, and maintaining strong stakeholder relationships.
* Permanent role based at Mascot Campus.
* Support the Head of Group Audit in overseeing the function's strategy, planning, budget, quality, performance, and reporting.
* Manage the assurance framework and audit program for key business portfolios across Qantas Airlines, Jetstar, Loyalty, Corporate functions, and Risk.
* Ensure senior leaders, the GLT, and Board Committees have clear visibility of financial, operational, commercial, customer, and compliance risks by leading multiple audit, review, health check, and advisory projects.
* Provide independent assessments of internal controls across areas such as finance, operations, safety, environment, security, IT, cyber, privacy, systems, and culture, recommending improvements to strengthen governance and mitigate risk.
* Drive innovation in audit methods, embed behavioural root-cause analysis, and work with internal and external assurance providers to deliver a combined assurance approach.
* Oversee third-party auditors, ensure high-quality and timely reporting, and monitor remediation effectiveness.
* Build strong stakeholder relationships, lead an internal audit team, and foster a positive, high-performance culture while balancing assurance priorities across the assigned portfolio.
Qualifications and Experience
* 10+ years delivering assurance frameworks/assurance plans and audits.
* Experience in Aviation/Transportation/Mining/Oil & Gas or other high-risk industries where control effectiveness is regularly tested.
* Tertiary qualification in WHS/Environmental Management/Quality Systems or a related discipline.
* Highly strategic thinking with the ability to understand and solve complex issues/problems.
* Extensive stakeholder management and communication skills.
* Extensive experience in conducting internal audit assurance and advisory engagements that focus on improving business performance, mitigating risk (including fraud risk), and promoting better practice.
* Well-developed understanding of the International Standards for the Professional Practice of Internal Auditing with demonstrated ability to develop and maintain a quality-assured Internal Audit process.
* Experience and capability in IT audit is preferred, but not essential, including evaluating IT general controls, application controls, cyber security, data governance, system change, and technology-enabled processes.
* Demonstrated systems capability in compliance and assurance, guidance and coaching of leaders and corporate governance reporting.
* Demonstrated experience in managing complex programs and delivering results within a complex business environment.
* Demonstrated experience in managing co-sourcing arrangements and ensuring the quality of third-party deliverables.
* A diverse leadership style that supports the development of talent throughout the Group Audit team and Qantas.
