SMS Group Services — Level 3 Rope Access Technician SMS Group Services are currently seeking experienced Level 3 Rope Access Technicians, with a strong track record in industrial rope access operations, to join our specialist access team. You will thrive in a fast-paced environment across mining, oil and gas, and infrastructure projects throughout Western Australia. Primary Role To lead and supervise rope access work crews in the safe and efficient delivery of access solutions across project and shutdown works. Maintain compliance with IRATA standards and SMS Group operational systems to deliver desired safety, quality, and project outcomes for SMS and our clients. Key responsibilities include, but are not limited to: Being hands-on in all aspects of rope access operations, including rigging, installation, and task execution at height. Supervise and mentor Level 1 and Level 2 technicians on site, ensuring competency development and adherence to safe work practices. Plan and manage rope access work scopes including risk assessments, job safety analyses, and rescue plans for each task. Liaise with Site Managers, Supervisors, and client representatives regarding access requirements, project timelines, and crew manning levels. Monitor shutdown and special project requirements in conjunction with the operations team, ensuring adequate crew capability and coverage. Maintain compliance with SMS Group processes and systems including (not limited to) IRATA ICOP, relevant Australian Standards, ADAPT, SharePoint, and all SMS operational documentation including JSAs, SWMSs, and equipment inspection records. Implement best practice rope access solutions to optimise safety and productivity whilst maintaining regulatory and client compliance. Work with the SMS operations and business development teams to identify and support new rope access opportunities and service offerings. Complete all rope access operational activities per ADAPT task mapping and client requirements. Contribute to the effective implementation of SMS controlled environment systems including Quality, HSE, and equipment management. Provide designated reporting and supporting information to SMS stakeholders (Operations Manager, Site Managers, and the HSE team). Ensure the correct use, inspection, and maintenance of all rope access equipment, PPE, and associated hardware in line with manufacturer and IRATA requirements. Provide on-site leadership, mentoring, and technical support to rope access crews as required.
