The Department of Justice and Community Safety (the department) is seeking a Compliance Officer, Consumer Affairs Victoria to provide a critical role within the Barwon South West Region.

**About the business unit**

The Department of Justice and Community Safety (DJCS) delivers high quality services to Victorians to provide a justice and community safety system that works together to build a safer, fairer, and stronger Victoria.

Corrections and Justice Services (CJS) is responsible for delivering frontline operations across the state of Victoria, which includes engaging local communities to deliver responsive and inclusive justice and regulation services. A component CJS assists Consumer Affairs Victoria (CAV) to deliver services through the provision of: enforcement and compliance with consumer laws through inspections and online monitoring; residential advice and education to consumers, tenants, businesses and landlords on their rights, responsibilities and changes to the law (including residential tenancy inspections); frontline dispute resolution between consumers and traders, and tenants and landlords; and business and consumer education.

**About the role**

Compliance Officers conduct a range of compliance monitoring activities and inspections as authorised under the _Australian Consumer Law and Fair Trading Act_, and other legislation administered by CAV. These inspections will typically include leading compliance checks issued under the State-wide Inspection Program as well as other activities identified by regional intelligence.

Some of your duties will include:

- Assist the Area Manager in the coordination, planning and development of compliance activities and their implementation, including the resolution of operational problems consistent with program objectives.
- Manage aspects of ongoing compliance and education programs under limited direction, identifying opportunities to improve service delivery.
- Be appointed as an Inspector under the Australian Consumer Law and Fair Trading Act and be delegated as an Inspector under the Residential Tenancies Act.

Upon commencement of employment with the department you will be required to provide evidence that you have an up-to-date vaccination status within the timelines specified by the department into the DJCS Service Portal. This includes evidence of all doses of a COVID-19 vaccine required by the department (from time to time).

Acceptable evidence includes:

- **COVID-19 digital certificate or ATAGI exemption certificate (available via your **myGov** account)**
- **Your immunisation history statement (available via your **myGov** account)**

Other documentation outside the above will not be accepted as evidence of having received your COVID-19
