About the role
Based at our Ingleburn site, As the Project Engineer, you will be responsible for delivering site capital projects and process improvement initiatives from concept through to completion. You will draw on strong mechanical process expertise, innovative design development, and disciplined project management methods to drive safe, efficient, and high‐quality outcomes. Collaborating closely with vendors, contractors, and internal stakeholders, you'll ensure all projects are executed to specification, aligned with operational needs, and delivered on time.
Key Responsibilities
* Champion WHSE excellence, ensuring all activities meet legislation, CSR standards, and safety policies.
* Lead by example to drive a strong safety-first culture aligned with CSR's Never Walk Past (NWP) framework.
* Oversee mechanical installation safety and vendor works, ensuring strict alignment with site standards.
* Act as the key liaison between vendors, builders, and CSR project leadership to keep delivery on track.
* Coordinate and manage vendor installation, commissioning activities, and on-site technical interfaces.
* Monitor installation quality, troubleshoot technical issues, and drive defect resolution to close-out.
* Support the Construction Manager by aligning construction sequencing with mechanical installation needs.
* Participate in design reviews and resolve mechanical design issues with vendors and subcontractors.
* Manage as-built documentation and ensure seamless handover to site operations teams.
* Assist with project controls including schedules, forecasting, variations, and vendor deliverable tracking.
What You'll Bring
* Tertiary qualification in Glass Engineering, Materials Science, Mechanical Engineering or similar, ideally with a focus on high‐temperature or thermo‐dynamic process systems.
* Experience in glass fibre manufacturing or furnace‐based production environments, including installation and commissioning of thermal processing equipment.
* Strong hands-on background with furnaces, exhaust systems, heat-transfer processes and complex thermo‐dynamic machinery.
* Proven experience leading major engineering or installation projects, coordinating multi-disciplinary teams, vendors and contractors.
* Proficiency with Autodesk software, thermal flow analysis, and structural design of process infrastructure.
* Demonstrated capability in process optimisation using Lean, Six Sigma, KT, VSM or similar structured problem‐solving methodologies.
* Solid financial acumen with experience in capex planning, cost–benefit analysis and evaluating engineering trade-offs.
* Strong safety mindset with deep understanding of hazards associated with high‐temperature, high‐pressure and industrial furnace environments.
* Excellent written and verbal communication skills, able to simplify technical concepts for operators through to senior stakeholders.
* Highly organised, detail-focused and proactive, with a proven ability to juggle priorities while maintaining quality and delivery timelines.
