Overview
Jacobs is seeking a Geotechnical Engineer to join our team in North Queensland, based in Townsville or Cairns. This position is open to personnel between 2 to 10 years' experience. Reporting to the Section Leader of Tunnel and Ground Engineering (TGE), this role offers an opportunity to contribute to major Transport, Water, and Power projects while fostering a culture of inclusivity and care.
What you\'ll do
As a Geotechnical Engineer, you will analyse and assess soil and rock properties to determine their behaviour under various conditions. Your expertise will be instrumental in designing foundations for structures, evaluating slope stability, and providing solutions for complex ground-related challenges. You\'ll be involved in all stages of projects, from initial site investigations to final design and construction support.
Your responsibilities will include conducting field investigations, interpreting geotechnical data, performing advanced soil and rock mechanics analyses, and developing detailed design recommendations. You\'ll collaborate closely with multidisciplinary teams to ensure comprehensive and innovative solutions for our clients.
You\'ll work on projects such as highways, bridges, slope assessments, deep excavations, retaining structures, and ground improvement techniques. Your software skills and ability to apply theory to practice will be valued.
Team and development
As a senior member of the team, you\'ll mentor junior staff, sharing knowledge to nurture the next generation of geotechnical engineers. Your guidance will be crucial in developing their technical skills and professional growth.
