Primary objective
As a member of the Preschool team, provide appropriate leadership for planning, development and implementation of high-
quality programs to achieve optimal educational outcomes for Preschool students.
Context statement
Bakewell Primary School is a large Independent Public School located in Palmerston. The school has an enrolment of
approximately 670 students from Preschool to Year 6 with 19% identifying as Aboriginal, 6% from Australian Defence Force
families and 14% as English as a Second Language/Dialect. Key initiatives at Bakewell Primary School include Explicit
Instruction, 1:1 iPad Learning Program, Robotics, Chinese Language and therapeutic services. Bakewell Primary is an
approved Charles Darwin University Teaching School. Staff at Bakewell reflect on teaching practices and engage in coaching

Key duties and responsibilities
1. Provide direction and leadership of the Preschool team.
1. Undertake an appropriate teaching load.
2. Participate in the formulation and review of policies, procedures and quality improvement planning for Preschool.
Selection criteria
Essential
1. Hold, or be working towards, an ACECQA approved early childhood qualification.
2. Registration or ability to obtain registration with the Teacher Registration Board of the NT.
3. Ability to work collaboratively with teams to implement a high-quality Preschool program.
4. Ability to work effectively with colleagues, parents, students and wider community and to interact effectively with people
from different cultures.
5. Proven teaching ability in a preschool context, with current working knowledge of the National Quality Framework, the
Early Years Learning Framework, and the NT Early Years Curriculum Guide: Preschool.
6. Significant experience as a preschool Teacher in Charge of an urban preschool.
