The Graduate Occupational Therapist position is part of the Occupational Therapy and Social Work Mental Health Graduate Program. This program, facilitated by clinical educators, includes orientation, foundational mental health training, ongoing supervision, monthly professional development and peer support days, as well as individualized support to develop a plan for achieving mental health competencies as outlined in the Statewide Graduate Occupational Therapy Competencies for Mental Health.
The Outer Community Team provides services to people in Melton including case management, acute community intervention and the intensive support program.
Responsibilities
- Performing case management and discipline specific duties as an entry-level Occupational Therapist within the Outer Community Team as part of the graduate program within the Mental Health and Wellbeing Service
- Supporting a caseload of consumers through assessment of their recovery and wellness needs, coordination of care, referral to relevant services and supports and discharge planning and support
- Working closely with the medical treating team and where required other members of the multidisciplinary team and external services to ensure the consumers holistic health care needs are met
- Provision of occupational therapy discipline specific assessment and interventions (individual and group based) to consumers, including those referred by other case managers
About you
- An approved degree in Occupational Therapy
- Current or Pending registration with AHPRA
- Entry-level knowledge of occupational assessment, intervention planning, and group work
- A willingness to learn and apply evidence-based OT approaches in mental health
- Flexibility and enthusiasm for learning, and adapting to meet evolving consumer needs
