About the role
We are seeking an experienced Slaughterperson/Butcher to join our team at McGill Family Butchery in Kuttabul, QLD. This full-time role is integral to the operations of our family-owned butchery, where you will be responsible for the humane slaughtering and processing of livestock, as well as the preparation of high-quality meat products for our customers.
What you'll be doing
1. Undertake the humane slaughtering and processing of livestock, ensuring compliance with all relevant health and safety regulations
2. Butcher and prepare meat products to the highest standards, including cutting, trimming, and packaging a variety of cuts
3. Assist with the production of specialty meat products such as sausages, cured meats, and smoked goods
4. Maintain a clean and organised work environment, following all food safety and hygiene protocols
5. Provide excellent customer service and advice to our valued customers
6. Contribute to the continuous improvement of our operations and processes
What we're looking for
1. Minimum 3 years' experience as a Slaughterperson or Butcher, preferably in a commercial setting
2. Comprehensive knowledge of butchery practices, meat cutting techniques, and food safety regulations
3. Strong attention to detail and a commitment to maintaining high standards of quality and consistency
4. Excellent problem-solving and critical thinking skills, with the ability to work independently or as part of a team
5. Good physical fitness and the ability to perform physically demanding tasks
6. A keen interest in the local food industry and a passion for providing exceptional customer service
