About the role :
Reporting to the Head of Unit, this role is responsiblefor the provision of high-quality care to patients while working in the wards and other areas such as theatres, the Endoscopy Unit, investigational and procedural areas, emergency department and outpatients. Duties for the role will include :
* In association with Unit Registrars, supervise the resident staff and students on a day-to-day basis ensuring ready availability to provide advice and guidance. In doing this, the Fellow will ensure that the registrar, residents, and interns are clearly aware of their tasks,
* The Colorectal Senior Registrar will be involved in a wide variety of elective and emergency surgical cases. All cases require consultant involvement prior to surgery occurring,
* Either the Registrar or the Senior Registrar is expected to perform a ward round each day of the weekend (ideally when on call).
About you :
* Bachelor of Medicine; Bachelor of Surgery (MBBS) or equivalent, Registrable with the Medical Board of Australia as a Medical Practitioner,
* Successfully passed FRACS or equivalent,
* RACS Fellow with colorectal interest and GESA accredited for colonoscopies or equivalent (preferred),
* Ability to work as a member of a team and ability to supervisor more junior medical staff.

As per the SMOEA 2022, the total term of employment with SA Health will be 3 years. Rotations following the initial 12-month allocation as Advanced Trainee will be determined in line with your training and SA Health's requirements. This may include transfer to other SA Health locations to perform work appropriate to classification, skills, and capabilities.
This is a single vacancy, with two possible appointment classifications. The successful applicants will be appointed in the position appropriate to their skills, qualifications, and experience.
