The Shire of Narrogin, located in the wheatbelt region of Western Australia and approximately 190 km southwest from Perth, offers a rich blend of natural beauty, historical significance and recreational facilities. Visitors can explore the wonderful national parks, walking trails and unique wildlife encounters. Covering over 1,618 square kilometres, the Shire features the historical township of Highbury and the town of Narrogin - a regional hub offering extensive community services including retail, education, health, aged care, sport/recreational facilities and an active library and heritage museum. Its economy Is primarily based on agriculture including broadacre cropping and livestock production.
Responsibilities
Reporting to the Shire President and Elected Members, the Chief Executive Officer is accountable for the management of all aspects of the Shire's municipal activity in accordance with the relevant Acts, Local Laws, Regulations and Policies. Key responsibilities include:
* Effectively manage all Council operations
* Provide sound financial management
* Meet all the statutory and regulatory requirements of Council
* Deliver an inclusive high-performance workplace culture
* Maintain an integrated strategic planning framework
* Oversight of programs, key projects and services
* Maintain quality relationships with key stakeholders
* Provide sound guidance and advice to the Shire President and Elected Members
* Develop and maintain effective Economic Development and Tourism strategies for the region
Ideal candidate and requirements
Ideally, we are seeking a community minded leader and contemporary people manager who has a deep understanding of Local Government. You will be expected to be pro-active, demonstrate high energy levels and can negotiate sound outcomes to the benefit of Council. Candidates with prior experience in renewables are particularly encouraged to apply.

Conditions and how to apply
Being a Band 3 Council, a total salary package (inclusive of benefits and superannuation) of between $182,109 and $300,370 will be negotiated with the successful candidate for a 5-year term. In addition to this, you will be provided with an excellent 4-bedroom home.
