About the Role
ECCQ is seeking a highly motivated and experienced Senior Policy Officer to lead impactful policy and advocacy work supporting culturally and linguistically diverse (CALD) communities across Queensland.
In this role, you will drive community-informed policy development, undertake research and analysis, and contribute to systemic reform initiatives that strengthen inclusive services and outcomes. Working closely with community leaders, government stakeholders and sector partners, you will play a key role in elevating lived experience and influencing decision‐making.

Key Responsibilities & Tasks includes but is not limited to:
Policy Development & Research
Conduct research and analysis on issues impacting CALD communities
Prepare high-quality submissions, briefing notes and reports
Analyse government policy and identify reform opportunities
Advocacy & Strategic Influence
Support evidence‐based advocacy initiatives
Contribute to stakeholder engagement across government and sector
Identify emerging issues and systemic barriers
Network & Stakeholder Support
Support key networks including Youth Ethnic Network (YEN) and Women's Ethnic Network (WEN)
Coordinate meetings, communications and advocacy contributions
Community Engagement & Consultation
Design and facilitate consultations, forums and engagement activities
Build and maintain strong relationships with multicultural communities and stakeholders
Ensure lived experience informs policy and advocacy priorities
Work across teams to translate policy into accessible communications
Support public messaging, campaigns and stakeholder engagement
About You
You are a strategic thinker with strong policy expertise and a passion for working with diverse communities. You will demonstrate:
Experience in policy development, research, advocacy or community engagement
Strong analytical and written communication skills
Ability to engage effectively with diverse stakeholders
Cultural capability and commitment to inclusion
Strong relationship management skills
A proactive and adaptable approach
Highly regarded:
Experience in the community, government or not‐for‐profit sector
Experience working with CALD communities
Qualifications & Requirements
Relevant tertiary qualification (Public Policy, Social Sciences, Law or related), or equivalent experience
Current Queensland Driver Licence
Ability to travel and occasionally work outside standard hours
National Police Check (or willingness to obtain)
