An exciting opportunity to join a new dedicated ward located at Noarlunga Hospital caring for patients of the Older Persons Assessment & Liaison (OPAL) and Residential Care Outreach Team (RCOT).
The primary focus of the OPAL/RCOT ward is to provide a geriatrician led service with an efficient, coordinated, multidisciplinary approach to patient care with streamlined discharge planning to an otherwise vulnerable population.
About the role Working under the Senior Occupational Therapist / Allied Health Team Leader, assess patients' occupational abilities and needs using a variety of formal and informal assessments Plan, develop and implement comprehensive evidence-based intervention programmes specifically tailored to meet individual patient requirements and therapeutic goals Work collaboratively within our multidisciplinary environment to optimise functional outcomes, supporting individuals to achieve their highest level of independence and quality of life, and facilitate discharge About you Demonstrated experience in the provision of clinical Occupational Therapy services (assessment and treatment) to clients with a range of disorders and disabilities, in the older person including those with cognitive impairment or a diagnosis of dementia Excellent communication skills with clients and professional staff, both oral and written, including capacity to provide supervision to Allied Health Assistants as required Strong organisational skills including the ability to prioritise workload, meet critical deadlines, delegate appropriately and demonstrate initiative in clinical practice A degree or equivalent qualification which entitles registration as an Occupational Therapist with the Occupational Therapy Board of Australia Why SALHN Develop and grow professionally: You will be offered opportunities for ongoing education tailored to individual disciplines and tailored to your needs as an individual - leading to more relevant and effective outcomes Join a supportive team: Increase your job satisfaction by working in a friendly, collaborative team with access to approachable, flexible, and supportive colleagues and managers who respect and value your contribution, expertise and knowledge Team Culture: Be part of a supportive team culture which will actively seek your ideas and feedback on systems and practices, contributing to the new models of care and provision of services.
