Established in 1991, Danila Dilba Health
Service (DDHS) is an Aboriginal community-controlled organisation committed to
providing culturally appropriate, comprehensive primary health care services
and community development within the Biluru (Aboriginal) community of the Yilli
Rreung (Greater Darwin) Region in the Northern Territory.
ABOUT THE
ROLE
To facilitate the delivery of acute care and
emergency management of clients presenting to clinics within Danila Dilba
Health Services, by providing high quality, comprehensive and culturally
appropriate clinical care for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander clients of
the greater Darwin Area.
WHAT YOU WILL DO
* Triage and treat walk-in clients and provide best practice,
evidence based acute care including emergency care according to CARPA
guidelines.
* Maintain clinic emergency room to DDHS and AGPAL standards.
* Collaboration with members of the DDHS multidisciplinary team and
external services to facilitate care and follow up of clients to support
optimal health outcomes, including recalls where required.
* Provide education, mentoring of trainees and in-services as
required on topics relating to the acute and emergency care;
* Assist GP's and other medical staff with procedures/office tests
including but not limited to ECG, Spirometry etc.
* Screen patients, attend health check and assist in the provision
of chronic care as required.
* Management of acute and chronic, simple, and complex wounds.
* Assist clinic manager in team leading and operations of the clinic
as required.
SELECTION CRITERIA
Essential
* Relevant Nursing qualification and
registration as a Nurse with AHPRA.
* At least 3-5 years post graduate
experience with demonstrated advanced clinical skills and competencies
applicable to acute/emergency care.
* Demonstrated knowledge and experience
working in cannulation and venepuncture.
* Current Advanced Life Support
certificate
* Current accredited immunisation
certificate recognised in the NT.
* Well-developed knowledge of, and
contemporary experience in, working with clients with chronic health conditions
and relevant management strategies.
Desirable
* Post graduate qualifications or
experience in emergency nursing, primary health care and/or public health.
* Ability to mentor and support junior
staff.
