About The Role
Darebin's People & Culture function brings together five key areas for strategic impact, these are Culture & Capability; Business Partnering; People Practices; Payroll and Health, Safety and Wellbeing. The position works across the People & Culture function in an integrated manner, seeking input, sharing ideas and providing strategic input into People & Culture priorities to ensure the successful development and implementation of a People Plan that is aligned to Council's goals and objectives.
The Senior Workplace Relations Advisor provides expert advice and strategic leadership on all matters relating to industrial and employee relations across the organisation. This role manages complex IR / ER issues and leads the enterprise bargaining process, while developing the capability of People & Culture Business Partners and organisational leaders to manage workplace relations matters with sensitivity and confidence.
In this role, you will :
* Provide authoritative industrial advice to leaders and People & Culture team members
* Lead enterprise bargaining negotiations with unions and internal stakeholders
* Manage complex ER / IR matters end-to-end, including disputes, investigations, and case management
* Mentor and build the capability of People & Culture Business Partners to strengthen ER / IR confidence and independence
* Coach and develop the capability and capacity of people leaders to proactively resolve employee matters when they arise
* Foster a thriving culture and collaborative and positive working relationships with unions and our multidisciplinary workforce.
What you'll bring :
* Demonstrated experience in Australian local government or public sector IR / ER
* Strong working knowledge of the Fair Work Act, Local Government Act, and applicable enterprise agreements
* Proven capability leading enterprise bargaining in a multidisciplinary unionised workforce
* Experience mentoring HR colleagues to improve knowledge and practice
* Strong stakeholder engagement and conflict resolution skills.
