Overview:
The Senior Pharmacist:
- Is a member of the Office of the Chief Pharmacist responsible to the Director, Medicines and Technology Programs (MTP) for the management and administration of medicines and technology programs and initiatives that promote systematic improvement in the safety, quality and cost effectiveness of health care.
- Contributes to the delivery of strategic projects aligned to whole of state priorities, and national policy advice on complex and sensitive issues.
- Contributes to the secure and effective use of medicines and therapeutic goods in South Australia by providing high level advice and consultancy and coordination of statewide programs for medicines and therapeutic goods.
- Ensures effective co-ordination for Medicines Programs and related Commonwealth and State Agreements and promotes and facilitates compliance with relevant legislation.
- Ensures the effective oversight and input into Commonwealth Medicines Programs, including PBS, S100 Highly Specialised Drugs, Efficient Funding of Chemotherapy and Closing the Gap programs.
- Participates in the administration of medicines related projects and supports Committees and initiatives that promote systematic improvement in the quality and safe use of medicines and the safety and quality of healthcare.
