Responsible for growth and support of the company's sales goals through professional sales techniques and good customer service, maintaining quality relations with existing accounts, cold calling, and providing sales coverage for assigned accounts in the New England territory.
Essential Functions
In-person sales & in-house coverage of assigned accounts requiring the use of a personal vehicle (car allowance & mileage). Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.
Duties/Responsibilities:
1. Develop maximum sales potential out of assigned territory through competitive sales techniques and knowledge of the company's products and services as well as the competition's strengths/weaknesses.
2. Extensive knowledge of pump equipment, flow instrumentation, and industrial products.
3. Build and maintain quality relations with existing assigned accounts and grow account base and volume of sales on a consistent basis.
4. Contact customers via telephone, correspondence, or in person by traveling as frequently as necessary to meet and surpass profitable sales goals for the company. Some overnight travel may be required.
5. Create customized proposals to meet specific customer requirements in an efficient manner.
6. Manage profit margins within company guidelines.
7. Manage specific product lines and vendor relationships, Grundfos and Xylem initially.
8. Support growth of product portfolio by recruiting new vendors to the business.
9. Receive and resolve customer requests in a timely manner.
10. Utilize company leads to expand current customer base and follow up all leads promptly.
11. Maintain updated, organized files on all accounts in assigned territory.
12. Complete and submit sales reports daily on account activity, providing monthly documentation with outstanding proposals, proposals secured, and proposals lost.
13. Perform other related duties as assigned.
14. Demonstrate strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
15. Exhibit excellent verbal, writing, and reading skills. Ability to communicate on all levels.
16. Show math and currency aptitude.
17. Possess strong computer skills, with the ability to work with Microsoft Excel and spreadsheets.
18. Demonstrate discipline to be a self-starter, have a strong work ethic, and work independently.
19. Be aware and sensitive to deadlines.
20. Have working knowledge of a geographic area.
21. Ability to work in a team environment.
This job operates in a blend of office, home office, and an industrial environment. This role routinely uses equipment such as laptop computers and smartphones. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly exposed to an industrial environment where hazardous chemicals and fumes may exist.
Travel
Travel regularly to customer locations to perform sales responsibilities and problem-solving. Some overnight travel may be required; daily trips are expected to manage a successful territory.
