**ABOUT THE OPPORTUNITY**:
Cumberland City Council are looking for a Principal Development Compliance Officer to join the Regulatory and Technical team
The successful applicant will require:
- Appropriate tertiary qualifications in building, building science, building surveying, engineering, planning, architecture, construction management or equivalent.
- Extensive operational knowledge of legislation (Acts, Regulations and supporting guidelines/Standards/Codes), including but not limited to; Local Government Act 1993, Environmental Planning and Assessment Act 1979, Protection of the Environment Operations Act 1997, Roads Act 1993, Building Code of Australia, and Swimming Pool Act 1992.
- Extensive operational experience in the management of investigations and enforcement action for a diverse range of areas, including but not limited to; Planning Approvals and Consents, Building Control provisions, and other breaches of Legislation under Local Government control.
- Extensive operational knowledge and experience in the various Act/Regulations/Rules that govern the collection, interpretation and presentation of evidence to and in a court of relevant jurisdiction.
- Experience in dealing with Senior Management Team and Councillors, including the preparation of reports, delivery of presentations, and provision of advice on a range of matters.
- Liaising with Council's designated legal representatives in matters of concern representing Council.

**Position information**: This is a permanent, full-time position, working a 70 hour fortnight, with access to Council's 9 day fortnight Accrued Day Off (ADO) arrangement.
This role is predominantly located at Council's Merrylands Administration Centre, with frequent travel required across Council worksites, and may be required to work across any of Council's work locations.
**Salary information**: The salary and conditions of employment are in accordance with the NSW Local Government (State) Award.
- Grade 12 of the Cumberland Salary Structure with a salary range of $88,660 to $101,920 per annum, plus 10% superannuation
- The commencing salary will be negotiated, taking into consideration the successful applicant's qualifications, skills and experience related to the role
