ABOUT THE ROLE

We are seeking an experienced Category (Commercial) Manager to join our Corporate Bravus Team, based in Brisbane with the requirement to travel to regional Offices/ Sites as needed. As part of the commercial team, you will be responsible for developing and executing category strategies that deliver optimal commercial outcomes across our entities. The role partners closely with internal stakeholders to ensure contracts, sourcing strategies and supplier relationships support operational requirements, value‐for‐money outcomes, risk management and long‐term business objectives.

Responsibilities of the role include:

* Develop, implement and maintain category management plans based on market analysis, risk assessment and business demand
* Analyse market dynamics, supply risks and cost drivers to inform sourcing decisions
* Align category strategies with operational demand, capital projects and maintenance plans
* Lead end‐to‐end sourcing activities, including procurement strategy, tendering, evaluation, negotiation and contract award
* Manage high‐value and high‐risk commercial contracts, ensuring compliance with contractual, legal and governance requirements
* Ensure contracts comply with governance, probity and regulatory requirements
* Manage contract performance, variations and renewals
* Build and maintain strong supplier relationships to drive performance, innovation and continuous improvement
* Monitor supplier performance against agreed KPIs, safety and ESG standards
* Provide expert commercial advice to key stakeholders.
* Provide commercial advice to support contract owners in contract management, including variations, claims and invoicing to ensure compliance with the commercial agreement
* Ensure alignment between site requirements and commercial outcomes
* Identify and mitigate commercial, supply chain and contractual risks
* Ensure adherence to safety, environmental, ethical and procurement policies
* Maintain accurate records and reporting in line with audit requirements
* Contribute to continuous improvement of commercial frameworks, templates, policies and governance processes

Requirements of the Role:

* Degree in either Commerce, economics, law, engineering, business or relevant disiplines
* Minimum 10 years' experience in equivalent position
* Proven experience in commercial or category management within complex, asset-intensive environments (e.g. resources, infrastructure, rail, energy or large-scale operations
* Hold a restricted Australian 'C' Class drivers licence
* Strong commercial acumen and business understanding
* Sound understanding of risk management practices and commercial law
* Display strong commercial acumen through analysis of key levers, business opportunities, and competitive advantages to develop strategies to benefit the business
* Ability to commute across site locations to support commercial requirements
* Manages self with resilience and integrity, particularly in a changing environment
* Works collaboratively, communicates effectively, both written and verbal
* Understands the requirements of the position and proactively works to deliver performance aligned outcomes.

Desired:

* Experience leading Commercial Teams within a mining/ heavy haul rail and / or infrastructure environment.
