This is a unique and rare opportunity to join the Legal Services Directorate at Northern Sydney Local Health District. We are looking for a lawyer with upwards of 3-years PAE, preferably with experience in advising on health law matters. The successful candidate will have an opportunity to work closely with the Director of Legal Services and Executive staff on a wide variety of complex and interesting matters relevant to operating a public health service.

Where you'll be working

The Legal Officer position is based in the NSLHD Executive Unit although travel to other District sites will be required at times.

What You'll Be Doing

As a Legal Officer, you will manage, advise and report on a broad range of legal matters whilst also having an opportunity to develop your legal knowledge and sharpen your legal skills under the supervision of the Director of Legal Services and by working alongside other healthcare leaders. This role will focus on monitoring NSLHD's significant legal matters so they are responded to in a timely manner and in a way that protects and promotes NSLHD's best interests. Where possible, the role will also support the Legal Services Directorate with other business activities.

People of Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander background are encouraged to apply. Criteria
* Legal qualifications and a current NSW practising certificate with at least three years post admission experience preferably in civil litigation and/or contracts and commercial law.
* Provide an example of where you have provided urgent legal advice on one of the areas relevant to the role. What steps did you take in delivering timely and high-quality legal advice?
* Describe a time when you have provided legal advice to Executive or other staff with no legal training. What are some steps you take when delivering that advice?
* Summarise your legal experience with advising on professional indemnity claims and health law matters.
