Revenue Group
The Revenue Group is responsible for leading Victorian government policy analysis and providing expert advice to Government on the following issues:
* Tax policy, including reform of state taxes, such as property, insurance, and payroll taxes, the performance of state taxes and revenue policy, and opportunities to improve the State's tax mix, and performance of the tax system.
* Gambling policy, including advice on economic, tax and legislative issues in relation to lotteries, gaming machines, casino and wagering.
* Intergovernmental financial relations, particularly in relation to the distribution and design of Commonwealth funding to states and territories.
* Revenue forecasting, including projections of Victoria's GST revenue and state own source revenues, including payroll, property, gambling, insurance and motor vehicle taxes.
About the role
As a Director, Intergovernmental Relations you will be responsible for leading a highly professional team to provide analysis and advice to Government on a range of Commonwealth-State funding and policy matters. This includes technical advice on the distribution of the GST between the states, negotiation of grants funding from the Commonwealth Government and on financial principles for engagement between the Victorian and Commonwealth Governments.
This role includes a high level of interaction with other parts of DTF and Victorian Government agencies, the Commonwealth and interstate treasuries and the Treasurer's private office.
About you
* Demonstrated capacity in the application of economic, financial or public policy analysis to complex issues, and in the provision of economic, financial or public policy advice at a strategic level;
* High level negotiation, influencing and communication skills (written and verbal) with a proven ability to engage strategically with senior stakeholders both inside and outside of government;
* Demonstrated leadership, people management and interpersonal skills;
* Experience leading in a specialised and complex field, with an ability to distil key issues and quickly respond to emerging priorities; and
* Demonstrated knowledge of economic, fiscal and strategic issues affecting Victoria as well as an appreciation of the machinery of government.
Experience and qualifications
Appropriate tertiary qualifications in economics, commerce, finance, public policy or a related discipline.
