Your Role as a Pathology Courier
You will be responsible for picking up and transporting pathology samples, specimens, blood, vaccines, and clinical waste to and from medical centres, collection centres, nursing homes, hospitals, and veterinary surgeries for delivery to laboratories.
This involves managing 30+ stops per day, ensuring a safe and efficient process, and providing quality health services to the community.
Your Key Responsibilities:
* Pick-up and delivery of pathology samples, specimens, blood, vaccines, and clinical waste.
* Liaise between referring medical practitioners and the medical liaison officer regarding store orders.
* Preparation and delivery of reports and stock control in the main laboratory.
* Maintain patient confidentiality and integrity.
* Follow operating procedures to complete correct specimen coding documentation.
* Comply with policies and procedures, work health and safety procedures, and quality assurance processes.
About You
* A valid open Australian driver's license with an excellent driving record.
* Ability to work various shifts including rostered weekends and public holidays.
* Great interpersonal skills to liaise with different stakeholders and strong written communication skills.
* Excellent time management skills, juggling up to 30 stops per day.
* Physical capability to handle equipment weighing regularly up to 10kg - 15kg.
* The ability to follow instructions and use initiative to make sound decisions.
* Previous courier experience is considered highly advantageous.
* Hold a Working with Children's Check or be willing to obtain one.
* You must be an Australian citizen, permanent resident, New Zealand citizen, or hold a valid visa with permission to work.
