We are recruiting for our Emergency Department

* Permanent part time Staff Specialist 0.6 FTE
* Temporary part time Staff Specialist and Visiting Medical Officer roles available fixed term for up to 3 yrs
* Temporary part time Career Medical Officer roles fixed term for 12 mths

About the Staff Specialists & VMOs

* Provide high-quality emergency care in a Tier 2 ACEM-accredited training site
* Contribute to education, policy development, and telehealth support for rural sites
* Manage a diverse caseload including medical, surgical, orthopaedic, obstetric, and paediatric presentations (paediatrics ~25%)
* Participate in after-hours and weekend rosters
* Be part of a collaborative multidisciplinary team with strong support from engaged senior management and mentor and train junior medical officers and Emergency Medicine trainees in an innovative teaching environment

About the CMO roles

* Our position is structured to include educational and procedural requirements, tailored to your prior experience
* You will have one non-clinical shift out of eight, allowing you to focus on training activities such as attending courses, enhancing airway skills in theatres, conducting audits, or participating in planned teaching sessions
* We encourage and support CMOs to enrol in and complete the ACEM Emergency Medicine Certificate program within their first year


About You

* Qualified medical practitioner registered with current full general registration in Australia with at least three years post-graduate experience
* Appropriate training and experience to work towards a leadership role in the ED, including being in charge of night shifts with direct support from Consultant FACEMS staff on other shifts
* Ability to provide guidance to junior medical and nursing staff across all elements of the Emergency Department

* Features include: 8-bed Emergency Short Stay Unit; Level 5 ICU, general medicine and surgery, cardiology, oncology, orthopaedics, O&G, paediatrics, and mental health
* Located about 25 minutes from Newcastle and 15 minutes from the Hunter Expressway
