HumeLink West Project
HumeLink West is being delivered by CIMIC Group companies UGL and CPB Contractors for Transgrid. The HumeLink project will connect Wagga Wagga, Maragle and Bannaby in regional NSW, significantly increasing the electricity network capacity in Australia’s eastern states.
HumeLink is one of Australia’s largest energy infrastructure projects, with about 365 kms of proposed new transmission lines and a range of other new and upgraded infrastructure. The HumeLink West scope of works, valued at $1.4bn, includes delivery of new 500kV double circuit transmission lines spanning approximately 140 kms from the Wagga Wagga Substation to a new Substation at Gugaa, the Interface Point with HumeLink East near Gundagai, and a new substation at Maragle in the Snowy Mountains for future connection to Snowy 2.0.
Your Opportunity
We are seeking a motivated and experienced Environment Advisor to join the HumeLink West team. This role is pivotal in supporting environmental compliance, sustainability initiatives, and stakeholder engagement across a major infrastructure project.
As a Senior Environmental Advisor, you will be accountable for:
- Demonstrating a personal commitment to the SHE Cultural Framework, Policies, Safety Essentials and Management System requirements and expectations
- Developing and maintaining an awareness of SHE hazards and associated risks and demonstrating a commitment to eliminate or minimise those risks
- Understanding and effectively undertaking SHE accountabilities
- Identifying and implementing initiatives that position the Project as a leader in environmental practices
- Helping to create and support a climate that encourages innovation and receptivity to environmental initiatives
- Demonstrating daily personal behaviour that upholds LCPL values and contributes to team effectiveness
- Being persistent with improvement ideas, including building team member buy-in
- Listening to team members’ improvement ideas and assessing their merit
- Managing day-to-day liaisons with the client in respect of environmental management
- Liaising with managers and subcontractor organisations as required
- Identifying and obtaining relevant approvals and licenses from authorities and government
- Ensuring compliance with all relevant legal and regulatory requirements and Company and Group policies and processes
Requirements for this role
- Tertiary qualification relevant to the field of operation
- At least 5 years construction experience in the related field
- Written and verbal communication skills
- Analytical, negotiation and relationship skills
- A sound knowledge of environmental legislation and requirements
- Computer skills in company software for word processing, spreadsheets, databases and e-mail
- Industry and/or project induction in accordance with legislation
- Task training or skills to suit specific project activities and their associated risks
- A broad knowledge of safety and health legislation
The successful candidate will be required to hold a current Construction Industry Induction Card (White Card or equivalent) and undergo a medical assessment (including drug and alcohol testing) prior to commencement.
Where applicable, evidence of tertiary qualifications and proof of right to work will be required prior to successful appointment.
