We are currently seeking a Workshop Manager for our GERALDTON operations (approx. 4 hours north of Perth). This is a full-time permanent position. Applicant must have hands-on approach with management experience in both workshop and onsite projects, overseeing dual trades. Australian permanent residency status is required for this position. Relocation assistance will be provided if required
Duties
* Supervise and provide hands-on leadership for a workshop comprising of Boilermakers, Welders, Fitters, Apprentices and Trade Assistants
* Ensuring all post fabrication, post welding items for dispatch are compliant and meet high quality standards
* Liaising daily with Management to ensure a smooth and efficient workflow
* Review drawings and specifications to determine job requirements
* Develop and review safety documents including SWMS, JHA and Safe Operating Procedures
* Maintaining contact with and successfully interacting with suppliers and contractors
* Organise transport and sorting out approval process for invoice
* Interview and hiring of new employees (including apprentices each year)
* Review and monitoring of apprentices and signing off there profiling
* Organising subcontractors for Workshop breakdowns
* Work with team to complete required Audits and ensure any actions are completed
* Liaise with site personnel to get urgent jobs pushed through
* Coordinate labour to be utilised on sites
Skills and Experience
Essential Criteria (what's required):
* 5+ years in a similar role (Structural Steel is preferred but not essential)
* Trade certification (Minimum Cert III in Fabrication Trade)
* Maintain a high level of attention to detail
* Prominent leadership skills
* Strong communication skills, both verbal and written
* Excellent troubleshooting and diagnostic skills
* Ability to work well in a team
* Strong commitment towards safety and quality
* Motivated and hardworking with a professional attitude
* Company and customer focused based
* Exceptional time management, scheduling and planning
* Supply a current manual driver's licence
* Forklift and EWP
* Ability to pass a medical and D&A screen
* Experience developing and reviewing safety documents including SWMS, JHA and Safe Operating Procedure
