About the job
We are seeking a proactive and highly organised Business Support Officer to join our Laboratory Services team. This role is ideal for someone with strong administrative experience who enjoys variety, supporting others, and keeping a busy team running smoothly.
In this position, you will provide day-to-day business and administrative support across the unit, ensuring alignment with laboratory and quality standards. Your responsibilities will include coordinating meetings and logistics, maintaining key systems and documentation, assisting with compliance processes, and supporting small projects.

About Science and Strategy
The Science and Strategy group employs scientific approaches to address present and upcoming challenges. They execute a strategy driven by customer preferences to elevate the SA Water brand and position us for future success.
Key responsibilities include:
* Provide general administrative support to the Laboratory Services team.
* Manage shared mailboxes and assist with preparing reports and documents.
* Coordinate meetings, travel, training, conferences and catering.
* Support day-to-day office processes including mail, stationery, uniforms, HR tasks, purchase orders and event coordination.
* Complete routine administrative tasks across business systems.
* Assist with procurement activities.
* Maintain team records, asset information and documentation.
* Prepare agendas and take minutes for meetings.
* Build positive working relationships with internal teams, contractors and suppliers.
* Contribute to a supportive, service-focused team environment.
Your success in this role will come from:
* Proven ability to manage complex and competing priorities while consistently meeting deadlines.
* Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills, with the capability to build strong relationships across all levels of the organisation.
* Proficiency in Microsoft Office and confidence in navigating and maintaining administrative systems.
* Meticulous attention to detail and a commitment to delivering high‑quality outcomes under pressure.
* Experience providing comprehensive support services within a collaborative team environment.
