Financial Controller: School Operations
Catholic Education Tasmania is a statewide system providing high quality Catholic education from early learning to Year 12. Guided by the mission of the Catholic Church, CET partners with schools to support inclusive, faith centred learning and foster the academic, spiritual and personal growth of every student across Tasmania.
Location: New Town, TAS – Permanent Ongoing Full Time Position (1.0 FTE). Applications close 8 April 2026.
Role Overview
Support the Head of Finance: Schools Operations in delivering strong financial stewardship, governance, and operational finance leadership across all CET schools. This senior opportunity directly contributes to financial sustainability and strategic direction of schools, leading consistent, best‐practice financial management and supporting system‐wide reform and transformation initiatives.
Key Responsibilities
* Lead consistent, accurate, and compliant financial operations across CET schools.
* Support school budgeting, forecasting, and financial performance monitoring.
* Ensure strong governance through effective financial controls, delegations, and risk management.
* Oversee school financial reporting cycles and contribute to system‐level dashboards and reporting.
* Coordinate audit processes and ensure compliance with AASB, ACNC, and CET requirements.
* Provide leadership to school-facing finance teams and support Business Managers.
* Build a high‐performance culture focused on capability development and continuous improvement.
* Support system-wide financial reform, sustainability initiatives, and strategic planning.
* Champion alignment, simplification, and best‐practice financial management across schools.

You Will Bring
* Demonstrated expertise in school or multi‐site financial operations and reporting.
* Proven experience leading finance teams and supporting diverse stakeholders.
* Strong analytical, problem‐solving, and financial reporting capability.
* High‐level communication and relationship‐building skills.
* Ability to lead change and support system transformation through practical, solutions‐focused leadership.
Qualifications
Required
* Tertiary qualifications in Accounting or Finance.
* CA or CPA membership (or working towards).
* Accreditation A to work in Catholic Education.
* Registration to Work with Vulnerable People (RWVP).
* Satisfactory National Police Check.
Desirable
* Experience in school finance, not‐for‐profit, or public sector environments.
* Strong understanding of AASB and ACNC standards and funding compliance.
* Experience using TechnologyOne or similar ERP systems.
