We're seeking a Mechanical Designer who can create detailed 3D models for industrial moulds (we use Fusion 360), then guide the fabrication process through a mix of 3D printing and fabricated steel work. You don't need a formal design, engineering or trade qualifications, although you may have, we only need you to have good 3D CAD skills, a passion for 3D printing, and the confidence to work alongside trades on the shopfloor. The Role
We're looking for a hands-on Mechanical Designer to join our team, working across 3D design, 3D printing, steel fabrication and plant-based engineering support.
You'll design and fabricate industrial large-scale moulds and associated embedded engineered components for high-performance refractory products, assist with engineering projects, and support production teams with practical solutions.
This role is perfect for a trade-qualified or diploma-level engineer with strong CAD skills (Fusion 360/AutoCAD), and at least 2 years' hands-on experience in drafting, mechanical design, or fabrication, and a passion for 3D printing.
What You'll Be Doing
* Design and coordinate mould fabrication for cast shapes
* Create and modify 3D models and drawings
* Supervise and support fabrication of industrial-scale moulds
* Operate and maintain industrial 3D printers
* Support production with plant-based engineering solutions
* Assist in engineering projects from design to commissioning
* Maintain WHS and quality standards across all work
YOU
* Strong Mechanical Aptitude
* Practical Mechanical Engineering Knowledge.
* Solid CAD/drafting skills (Fusion 360, INVENTOR or similar)
* Ability to work across departments and engage well with trades
* Practical mindset and problem-solving approach
* Willingness to lead and collaborate
* Comfortable working with a range of materials
* A keen eye for detail and quality in fabrication and design
