The key duties of the position include The Role Defence's Financial Policy team plays a critical role in shaping and maintaining the financial framework to enable one of Australia's largest organisations to deliver on its outcomes. As an Assistant Director, you will work within a collaborative and supportive environment to deliver high-quality policy outcomes and tackle unique and challenging financial policy issues. This role is integral to maintaining and enhancing the Defence financial framework in partnership with stakeholders across the organisation, ensuring it remains fit-for-purpose and responsive to evolving needs. The framework includes: Accountable Authority Instructions (AAIs), Financial Delegations and associated policies and guidance. Grants management framework and reporting. Key responsibilities include: Working collaboratively with others to deliver financial policy outcomes; Drafting and reviewing a range of documentation including briefs and ministerial submissions; Managing, influencing and implementing changes to the Defence financial framework; Providing subject matter expertise to solve complex financial policy challenges; Delivering on statutory and management reporting requirements; and Providing relevant, accurate and timely finance policy advice to a broad range of stakeholders including Portfolio Ministers, Secretary of Defence, Chief of the Defence Force and Senior Leaders within the Department. About our Team The Financial Policy Directorate sits within the Financial Compliance Branch in Budgets and Financial Services Division. We are a high performing and cohesive team which supports continuous improvement and delivers results. The Directorate performs the essential function of developing and maintaining core financial frameworks, to assist Defence staff in performing their financial responsibilities. Elements of what the team are responsible for are fast paced and highly visible, requiring the management of limited resources to deliver on competing priorities and deadlines.
