* Plan layout or format of copy according to space or time allocations by working closely with authors and designers.
* Detect and correct errors in spelling, grammar and syntax by thoroughly reviewing written content.
* Shorten or lengthen copy to suit the needs of the project and ensure clarity and concision.
* Plan coverage of upcoming events and assign work accordingly by staying up-to-date on industry trends and developments.
* Confer with authors, staff writers, reporters and others regarding revisions to copy by maintaining open communication channels.
* Plan and coordinate activities of staff and assure production deadlines are met by leveraging strong organizational skills.
* Write or prepare introductions, marketing and promotional materials, bibliographic references, indexes and other text as needed.
Key Requirements:
Bachelor's Degree:
* In Journalism, general or equivalent experience is required.
Experience:
* A minimum of 3 years to less than 5 years of experience in editing is necessary.
Skills:
* Proficiency in Adobe Illustrator, MS Outlook, MS PowerPoint and MS Word is expected.
* Excellent written communication skills are essential.
* Organized and detail-oriented individuals are highly valued.
