Overview
We are seeking a skilled
Asphalt Quality Technicians
to support road construction projects by carrying out on-site testing of soils, aggregates, and asphalt materials. This role is critical in ensuring compaction, density, and surface quality meet project and industry specifications.
Responsibilities
Conduct soil testing, nuclear density testing (nuke testing), and densometer testing on-site.
Perform quality checks on asphalt, aggregates, and basecourse materials to confirm compliance with project requirements.
Analyse and interpret test results, identifying trends and potential quality risks.
Understand and monitor the impact of construction machinery (e.g. rollers, compactors) on soil and asphalt layers.
Provide technical feedback to supervisors and project managers on compaction and surface outcomes.
Maintain accurate records of test results and prepare clear daily reports.
Ensure all testing is performed in line with Australian Standards / project specifications and safety requirements.
About You
Previous experience in
asphalt or soil testing
within construction or civil projects.
Competent in the use of
nuclear density gauges, densometers, and other field testing equipment
.
Sound knowledge of compaction theory and the interaction between
machinery and ground surfaces
.
Strong analytical and reporting skills with attention to detail.
Safety-conscious and able to work independently on-site.
