The Department of Justice and Community Safety (the department) is seeking a Technical Officer – Electrician to provide a critical role at Custodial Operations.
The Business Unit
Located at Castlemaine, Loddon Prison is a 477‐bed medium‐security prison for sentenced male prisoners. Adjacent to Loddon Prison is Middleton, a 236‐bed restricted minimum‐security prison for sentenced male prisoners. The focus of both prisons is rehabilitation via individual case management, employment, education, training and the provision of programs and targeted interventions to address offending behaviour and promote the development of prosocial behaviour. Both prisons provide contemporary and quality correctional services that prepare prisoners for transition and reintegration.
Responsibilities
* Manage day‐to‐day electrical infrastructure, building condition, and maintenance as part of a multi‐disciplinary maintenance team.
* Liaise with internal staff and external contracted service providers with particular attention to service delivery and outcomes required under the essential service maintenance contract, as well as compliance with OH&S requirements.
* Provide critical information and reporting on the prisons plumbing infrastructure condition and recommend improvement / preventative maintenance.
* Provide electrical infrastructure expertise to the Facilities Manager, including technical operation of all preventative and reactive maintenance for security, data, phone and building management systems.
* Maintain accurate maintenance records for all building and systems equipment.
* Manage and coordinate external contract services.
* Ensure compliance with all regulations and codes.
Qualifications
* Demonstrated electrical experience in an industrial, commercial or facilities environment.
* Current trade certification as a Licensed electrician.
* Ability to identify work specifications within scope and provide technical information to contractors.
* Demonstrated understanding/experience working with security electronic systems.
* Current Victorian Driver's Licence.
