UTS is recruiting for an Internal Communications Manager to lead a team tasked with enhancing UTS' reputation with its staff and students, encouraging advocacy, engagement and a sense of community amongst these audiences, and supporting the University's ambition to be known as a world‐leading university of technology.
This role is based within the Strategic Communication team. The Strategic Communication area uses best practice, innovative and targeted communication to priority audiences to protect and enhance UTS' reputation and achieve UTS 2030 objectives. It plays a leading role in building advocacy amongst key audiences and in managing the university's corporate reputation during issues or emergencies.
About the Role
The Internal Communications Manager leads a team tasked with the creation and coordination of advocacy content, storytelling and change communication strategies and campaigns, and supports and ensures collaboration across teams.
This role oversees official UTS communication programmes and channels for its staff and students. They provide senior level support to university leadership on internal communication, advocacy and strategic planning, and support improved internal communication training and management. They support development of the internal communications team and work to uplift communication capability.
In this role you will be responsible for:
* Developing, implementing and evaluating university-wide internal communication strategies for projects and initiatives, such as UTS 2030, managing overall communication strategy as well as content development and planning for a variety of channels
* Improving organisational communication through programs to uplift the internal communication skills of academic and professional staff
* Ensuring a professional and timely service to internal clients and partners
* Building a collaborative team, ensuring staff capability to both lead, collaborate and balance workload
About You
As the successful applicant, you will have;
* Outstanding oral and written communication skills in a variety of formats and technologies, from social media to websites and article writing.
* Outstanding knowledge of effective internal communication strategies and approaches, including digital, social and traditional platforms, tools and channels. Strong strategic planning, measurement and evaluation skills.
* Professional liaison, negotiation and diplomacy skills – ability to liaise with senior academic and professional staff, and university leadership.
* Successful record of developing and managing communication initiatives and campaigns within a large organisation.
* Solid knowledge of the Australian university sector, or similar research and teaching organisations, or the not‐for‐profit sector.
* Degree in communications, organisational psychology, change communications or related area as well as relevant experience and/or education/training.
* Experience in management, preferably in a public sector or research oriented organisation, and in leading a team.
Base Salary Range
$140,965 - $147,678 pa (HEW 9)
This role attracts 17% superannuation (pension) in addition to the base salary.

This position is full time and appointment will be made on a fixed term basis for 6 months, covering an internal secondment.
