Gladstone Area Promotion and Development Limited (GAPDL) has an organisational Vision to “Advance the Gladstone Region through the promotion and development of business, industry and tourism for the benefit of our members and the community”.
GAPDL is seeking to appoint a full-time, fixed-term, Chief Executive Officer (CEO) to assist GAPDL achieve it's Vision and Corporate Aims through various brand promotion activities, projects, events, visitor information centres, and community engagement.
The current term for this role is until January 2026, but may be extended.
About the job:
Your role is responsible for sustainable economic growth through industry, tourism and business, to increase the value for our members and community. The CEO must also work towards addressing the key corporate goals of GAPDL and will include:
Managing the team and operations
Developing and delivering a strategic planning framework compromising of:
Gladstone Region Economic Development Strategy
Gladstone Region Employment Strategy; and
Gladstone Region Domestic Tourism Marketing Strategy
Overseeing the execution of the annual business plan and budget
Further developing and maintaining current and new relationships with key stakeholders - members, community and industry representatives, tourism bodies and operators, employees and volunteers.
Attending board and sub-committee meetings to provide input on progress
About you:
You are a passionate leader, who uses their strong commercial and membership organisation background to help the team deliver exceptional tourism promotional activities to the region.
Formal qualifications in management and leadership desirable, with substantive work experience and outcomes to back it up.
Decisive, fair, empathetic and people-focused.
Experience managing a membership-based organisation and/or not-for-profit that operates through grants, funding and successful key relationships
Minimum 5 years’ experience in a leadership role
Proven ability to deliver financially sustainable operations
Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively with a team as well as autonomously to effectively achieve positive outcomes
